An independent Rhenish Rebublic is proclaimed at Wiesbaden by Hans Dorten with himself as President. The illegal proclamation is supported by the Commander of the French Army of Occupation Gen. Mangin who is in favour of a French puppet state between France and Germany.

White forces launch an attack on the Red-held city of Tsaritsyn (later Stalingrad, now Volgograd) but are repulsed losing many senior commanders in the two-day battle to 15 June.

The combined White-Estonian army marching on Petrograd reaches the naval base at Kronstadt. Soldiers in the forts of Krasnaia Gorka and Seraia Loshad mutiny and turn their big guns on Red positions.

The Germans are given five days to accept the Allied peace plan or risk a resumption of the war.

The Slovak Soviet Republic proclaimed in Presov under Antonin Janousek, backed by Hungarian troops.

17 June 1919. The Estonian-White attack on the Russian naval base at Kronstadt is repelled. A Royal Navy torpedo boat sinks the Russian cruiser Oleg.

18 June 1919. White troops land at Koktebel in the Crimea in an attempt to overthrow Crimean Soviet Socialist Republic, led by Lenin's brother Dimitry Ulyanov.
