You failed to mention Tommy that with all theses problems popping up Cuomo still has over a 52% approval rate from the people of New York State and these are the people who voted him in.

Biden now is also gaining a higher approval rating and has gone from negitive numbers in at least 3 red states at election time to positive numbers in these States by 5-8 %

The Olympic team Art is going to Japan, not China. This is a difference you know. Ask America about the two Canadians being held in China. They were probably working for the Americans in the first place. How do you know if they are innocent or not? You should worry more about your own PM that ours, because nothing ours can do will hurt you.

Two detained Michaels are pawns in a bigger conflict between U.S., China, experts say

Two detained Canadians in China -- one of them facing a trial Monday morning on espionage charges -- are a "pawn in a bigger geopolitical confrontation" between the world's two superpowers, according to an expert.

Colin Robertson, a fellow and vice-president at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, said that the trials of Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig come as a precisely-timed move to exert pressure over the United States.

"The timing of the trials are an effort to place pressure on the Americans, by demonstrating they can do this to America's closest ally -- Canada," said Robertson, who cited the meeting between Chinese and American national security officials in Anchorage over Friday and Saturday.

"So in a sense, the two Michael's are pawns in a bigger geopolitical confrontation between the rising superpower and the current superpower."

Robertson's comments come hours before Kovrig's scheduled appearance in court and three days after Spavor's trial -- the latter of which lasted two hours and ended without a verdict.

According to Reuters, the charge d'affaires of the Canadian embassy in China said that he was repeatedly denied after requesting access to Kovrig's hearing over national security reasons.

"Now we see that the court process itself is not transparent," Jim Nickel told reporters outside of the Beijing courthouse after the trial began.

So you see Art, Trudeau has done all he can according to the Canada's believes which we share with the States. We don't get bulled into releasing a prisoner just because you take two of ours people hostage.  I post the case of the illegal kidnap and charging of two Canadians, in what the whole world sees as obviously a politically motivated action and what do you do? Blame the Yanks and waffle on about a copper in a completely unrelated case in an unrelated country and the arrest of two women in an, what I think you would call an illegal protest. Obviously you never read my post or bothered checking it. Canada like America doesn't bend to terrorists or kidnappers. It is best when all western nations work as one like they are now to call out China to change their ways. So now you don't think Canadians work with America on spying. Canada sanctions 4 Chinese officials for human rights abuses in Xinjiang

Canada joined the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union today in placing sanctions on Chinese officials suspected of involvement in a years-long campaign of persecution against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China's western Xinjiang province.

In a statement announcing the sanctions, Global Affairs Canada accused the four high-ranking officials of participating in "gross and systematic human rights violations" in Xinjiang.

The statement said mounting evidence shows the Chinese state is responsible for arbitrarily imprisoning more than one million people on the basis of their religion and ethnicity, and for subjecting them to "political re-education, forced labour, torture and forced sterilization."

China has denied all reports of human rights abuses in the region, claiming that the camps are vocational training centres needed to fight extremism.

"We remain deeply concerned by the egregious human rights violations that are taking place in Xinjiang at the hands of the Chinese state," said Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau in a news release. 

"Today, we are joining our partners in calling on the government of China to put an end to this systematic campaign of repression against Uighurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities and to hold those responsible to account."

The four officials Canada is targeting with asset freezes and a travel ban are:

• , director of the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau.
• , secretary of the political and legal affairs committee in Xinjiang and former director of the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau.
• , former deputy party secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
• , secretary of the party committee of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

Canada also announced sanctions against the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Public Security Bureau, a state-run organization responsible for security and policing.

Britain and the European Union announced sanctions on the same four officials earlier in the day. China responded quickly by sanctioning 10 European officials, including European lawmakers.

The U.S. Treasury Department also imposed sanctions on Wang Mingshan and Chen, and has previously sanctioned Zhu and Wang Junzheng.

The sanctions come exactly a month after MPs voted to label China's actions in Xinjiang region a "genocide." Liberal cabinet ministers, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, abstained from that vote.

The Liberal government has been reluctant to use the term "genocide" to describe Bejing's actions in Xinjiang but it has faced increasing pressure from opposition parties to take a stronger stand on China.
