Seems as if the UK is unravelling before our very eyes over this Brexit thingy. Cabinet ministers bailing out, the PM unlikely to last another week, the pound plummeting, & the population at around 50-50 "for or against." There is no middle ground open for negotiations with Armageddon fast approaching. Perhaps you should immigrate to the States for some political stability, Mark. I am sure Trump to negotiate a better deal for all.

Blame Major, he voted for this debacle, I stayed out of it. It's now obvious that it's impossible to fully break away from Europe, we're too entwined with it. The best we can hope for is a "half-Brexit" despite what Boris Johnson and other windbags tell us. If we have a new Prime Minister whoever he or she is they'll also come a cropper over this insoluble problem. I almost want it to be the oafish Boris so we can finally see what a bag of hot air he is. The sooner he's out of the public eye the better.

Under Conservative Party rules if 15% of their MPs submit letters of "no confidence" to the party chairman he has to hold a vote on the leader's continued position. 48 is the crucial number. So far we know of about 25 letters received, there will probably be others who've kept quiet about submitting theirs and more may come in the next few days. Such is the ill feeling over Theresa May's proposed Brexit deal. If a contest is held and she loses a new leader (and therefore a new Prime Minister) will be appointed without the need for a General Election, which is not due until 2022.

My MP has submitted a letter, I'm not sure about him doing that, he'll say it's loyalty to he country and Brexit, but I don't like the disloyalty to a PM who's doing her best as she sees it.

Blame Major, he voted for this debacle, I stayed out of it. Good for you Mark. It just shows us all some people shouldn't be allowed a vote. lol If you go back and check the posts I told him over and over to be a no vote, but did he listen. By the looks of things , May seems to be trying her best and if replaced there is no garantee anyone else can do any better. The yes side wanted out but had no game plan in place on how they were going to do it. A lot of it had to do not wanting to except a wack more immigrants with different values but maybe and I say maybe they could have worked out a deal with the EU to stop that from happening without leaving. You did manage to work out a way to keep your own currency.

When you heard the average Joe on the street most of them said it was about two things - regaining our sovereignty and keeping immigration down, both laudable but, I fear, not entirely possible such are the complexities of the maze we've been led into these past 45 years. The Northern Ireland border is the sticking point to which there does not appear to be any answer that will allow us to break away entirely. A half-Brexit is the best we'll get in our current position.
