Date Posted:02/05/2019 06:27:59Copy HTML 500 years ago today, on 2 May 1519, the greatest figure of the European Renaissance died, Leonardo da Vinci. Born in Italy he was a man ahead of his time. He made drawings and plans of inventions that were centuries away from realization - the parachute, tanks, flying machines, robots plus incredible feats of engineering - bridges, water pumps and artillery. In addition to this he was a gifted cartographer, anatomist and botanist. And of course a great painter producing perhaps the world's most famous painting - the Mona Lisa. He died at Amboise in France after he had been "head hunted" by the French King. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Leonardo Date Posted:03/05/2019 08:41:40Copy HTML Yes, it moved and a panel in its chest opened to reveal lilies, the emblem of France. The original is lost but a reconstruction was built in 2009.
