I agree although they seemed to be a wee bit rigid to most of us but that of course is a requirement for the royals. They kept their dirty laundry behind closed doors as they should have, unlike Meghan & Harry the wimp.

Prince Harry will come to the funeral, Meghan will not as she's heavily pregnant. A fair enough solution. It'll be a small affair under Boris' covid regulations, but there will be a proper full memorial service once all this is over at which we can expect half the Royals of Europe and the Middle East to be invited.

Not suppose to fly Tommy in her state. Maybe just as well, don't you think? Don't need the funeral ruined.

Many flags here are already at half staff. The only one I noticed wasn't, was Walmarts.

The funeral service will be televised here and I imagine it will also be in the States. I think he was only short a couple of months before his 100th Birthday.

In many ways he was. I think she told a shine to him long before the marriage.

Harry is supposed to be in quarantine for five days before meeting with the family.  Meghan will probably never set foot in England again.

Apparently he's flown in already so he can observe the necessary quarantine rules before the funeral. Even the Royals have to abide by this in Boris' England.

I hear he’s going to be carried, not on a gun carriage pulled by sailors, but on top of a Land Rover he helped design.

I hope that is per his request.  Reports have it that he made quite specific requests about the manner of the funeral and place of burial.

Both play a part. It was never going to be a full State Funeral, but due to covid it's more of a small family gathering, all taking place within the grounds of Windsor Castle.

None of the family will wear military dress, this has been done I'm sure to accommodate Prince Harry who would have been the only male in civilian clothes as he has been stripped of all his UK military ranks. Hope this move is appreciated by Oprah.

I am on another site which is local & a walk down memory lane type posts. You know like the good old days & how things have changed for the better. Anyway, somebody posted a time-lapse photo of Phillip since he was a baby, & several ladies have commented that they see a lot of Phillip in Harry.

No, as far as I'm aware there is no means of de-Royaling a Royal, he's a Prince for life. His title of Duke of Sussex can be removed however under a law passed in 1919 to remove the titles from British Lords who supported the Germans; it's not been used since, but is still on the Statute Book.

A Brit friend of a friend of mine was recently visiting & he passed a stunning rumor or rumour. When the Queen passes Charles will immediately step down & pass the throne to William. My response to him was Charlie has been waiting in the wings for years for her to die or abdicate so he could get his chance. His response was Charlie may stay at the top for a little while, then abdicate in favor or favour of William. To me it didn't seem likely...............what say you, our learned members?

I don't think he'll step down this side of the vault in St George's. Charles has a sense of history, duty and succession. I wish he would as we need new young blood at the helm and Williams is to the manor born, he's got his grandmother written all over him.

I think Charles will do exactly as he was raised to do.  He will ascend the throne and carry out his duties as long as he lives.  What he should do is have William crowned co-king as Henry II did with this eldest son.  It didn't work well for Henry and Young Henry but it would work for Charles and William.  On second thought, is that power even still granted the King/Queen of England?

Meghan said she could not attend the Prince Philip's funeral on doctor's advice not to travel.  I read this morning that her reason was she didn't want to be the center of attention.  I also noted that it made headlines that she sent a wreath and a note.  Prince Philip once gave Harry some valuable advice:  never make it about you.  In Hollywood it's always about you.  I hope Harry recalls that advice.

Shula, I never knew there could be a co-king or queen. An interesting possibility there. As far a Meghan goes, she dwells on being the center of attention. The "hey look at me" type personified.

I think it's quite possible that Charles will abdicate after a few years, he'll most likely be in his mid 70s at his accession and could hand over the Crown after five to ten years or so? I think he'll do what he wants to do as King then give William the chance before he too is well into middle age.

Very unlikely there will be dual Kings. The only time dual Monarchs have been formally accepted was William III and his wife Mary II 1689-94. Henry II's son, although crowned King during his father's lifetime in 1170, cannot be considered to have reigned. The act was copying the French tradition of a King having his son crowned while he still lived to cement his position as undisputed heir. It never caught on in England.

Princess George most likely refers to Princess Marina of Greece who married Prince George, Duke of Kent in 1934. We have a Princess Michael of Kent today, she is the wife of Prince Michael of Kent, her actual name is Marie Christine. One of the titles Diana Spencer could have used was the Princess Charles.

Prince Philip was a Prince of Greece and Denmark at birth. His great-grandfather was a Danish Prince who was offered and accepted the vacant Greek Throne in 1863. All European Royals have links to every other Royal House however distant. Prince Philip was more Royal than the Queen, her mother was not a Royal by birth, all of Philip's ancestors going back generations, were Royals by birth.
