Date Posted:23/03/2021 10:01:48Copy HTML DAC stands for "direct air capture" & is just another Canadian contribution to worthless ideas, inventions, & one of the reasons Canada is irrelevant on the world stage. A prototype filtration plant built in B.C. may be able to scrub a ton of carbon dioxide from the air every year. Note "may." It is a barn size building that uses fans to draw air across a filter drenched in potassium hydroxide solutions. The filter absorbs & breaks down harmful CO2 & there is another much larger plant planned in Texas. Of course to simply keep pace with today's carbon emissions would require 30,000 more large scale DAC plants with each requiring its own gas furnace to run. Put this right up there with Wayne Gretzky's gummy bears for meaningless Canadian inventions. Live respected, die regretted

Of course you know we are already ahead of you in clean air development and will corner the north American market pretty soon. As you mentioned, this is only a small prototype and would be build in massive sized plants around the world in a few years. Might be a place to stick a bit of investment Tommy. Always best to be the early bird. Imagine if they could build one the size of a generator like yours. Imagine everyhouse having one, all working off of solar or wind power depending where you lived. Just think, people in California would finally be able to see their own feet. Smart in Hockey, smart in Business. Have you never tried them? Legel now in most States if not all. Can't you just seen you and the boys at the Legion sitting around chewing the fat and eating gummy bears. I can, and I'm laughing at the thought of it. Is all your snow gone yet? |

Yeppir, clean air provided by thousands more gas operated furnaces. That deserves at least 3 "hars." Har, har, har. |

Re:DAC Date Posted:24/03/2021 08:47:22Copy HTML Yeppir, took the plow off of the Ranger three days ago. I suppose it will snow next week, eh? Weather has been nice with higher than normal temeratures for the past couple of weeks now but March can still be unpredictable and it's not odd here to get a late blast of snow or ice. People here have a bad habit of taking off their snows to early and usually find out the hard way that they screwed up. I have lost count of the number of times in the past week or so that people had to be rescued off the ice on Lake Simcoe by air or hovercraft. A lot waited too long to get their huts off which carries a heavy fine it they don't do it. I think the cut off is March 15th. A couple of days ago a guy goes out in his brand new half ton. It's now sitting in the bottom of the lake. He will be charged with getting it out which will cost a few thousand because it's in 75 feet of water, plus large fines for for polluting the lake with everything from windshield anti-freeze to oil and fuel. Every year their is always snowmoblers go through in late fall and spring. Drinking is involved a lot of the time. |

Is it perfect no, but at least a good start. |

Re:DAC Date Posted:24/03/2021 09:37:27Copy HTML Just announced in my county, they are going ahead in building "community solar farms" which is different from the personal one's of the past, you know those ugly things on the roof of your neighbor's house. These will be masses of solar panels hooked up to the grid that will produce electricity for everyone & reduce their monthly bills. This would be home owners, apt. dwellers, commercial & public buildings. A "for the common good" thingy. Live respected, die regretted

If they waited here to April 1st the lakes would be completely open. |

I remember the fines & warnings when snowmobiling at Muskoka. Don't venture near where the feeder creeks are, thin ice. |

If you listen only to their representitives, you would think differently. Who in their right mind wouldn't want lower monthly bills and cleaner air to breath, to boot. Our biggest problem seems to be excepting there is a problem in the first place. Once us older people start facing facts that fell all very new to us, the better off we will be. It will for sure create a whole new industry and with that comes new fields and new jobs. We have to be careful though because with everything new, we still have a choice to made. Either to be the leaders, or the followers in the world. I say with the skills found in North Americans we should shot to become the leaders.
